Partners in Housing recently became the owner of an affordable housing apartment complex here in Colorado Springs. The Christy Lynn apartment complex is located on the northwest side of town.
With this new acquisition, Partners in Housing currently owns or co-owns 109 units of affordable housing, which are rented to low-income households at affordable rents. These units provide an affordable housing option for households graduating from our self-sufficiency program, as well as helping to prevent homelessness by increasing the city’s supply of reasonable cost housing. The Christy Lynn property includes 14 units.
For those of you aware of the complete history of Partners in Housing, you’ll know that this completes the third and final phase of a housing capacity-building initiative started by the agency back in 2002.
The initiative added ten, brand new, three-bedroom transitional housing units for the homeless families in our program, and now the 14, Christy Lynn affordable units that will be made available to low-income working families and individuals in our community.
Partners in Housing also owns 70 transitional, scattered-site housing units throughout Colorado Springs for families served by our Family Self-Sufficiency program. “We are especially pleased with our acquisition of a high-quality property, such as Christy Lynn, particularly at a time when our community’s need for affordable housing is so critical,” said Frank Stampf, Partners in Housing Executive Director.
