Letter from a Graduate
Fall 2011
A letter from a graduate:
“I came into Partners in Housing almost thinking I’d go back to my ex and live happily ever after. But something better happened. I had a place to be where I didn’t have to rush and was able to take some time. I have gained such a greater sense of independence and confidence that I would not have otherwise gained from any other situation.
Even more importantly, my children have witnessed this and will gain from it too. My internal strength and spirit is in existence – I never had that before!
Through Life Skills Classes, I learned that what I came from was not normal or healthy; and in fact, was abusive and I had to face that. But, with that to face, I have learned about healthy relationships, what that looks like and how to avoid or even deal with what isn’t healthy – and now I get to hand that down to my children.
I have had so many experiences that I could write a book, but in the end, I look at it as I filled my bank of knowledge and will use that to help others as needed along the way of life. I am so thankful to our community for the financial support they provide through Empty Stocking Fund to keep programs like Partners in Housing a valuable support to families who need the services!”
